Rasselbock Backyard Ultra Sherwood Pines 2027

The Rasselbock Backyard Ultra at Sherwood Pines Forest Park takes place on 27 March 2027 during the Easter holidays. The event follows the backyard ultra format: competitors must begin a new lap on the hour, every hour, and the race ends when only one runner remains to start a lap. If a runner is not inside the starting corral when the bell rings they receive a DNF. Each loop must be completed within an hour, including the final lap.

The course is at least 4.16 miles long and runs on a mix of forest trails, single paths and forest access roads with natural woodland and gravel surfaces. There is an aid station offering water, squash, hot water, sweets and fruit. The event provides dedicated first aiders, an area for support crews and tents, free parking for one vehicle, full chip timing with live results and event live-streaming. Finishers receive a unique DNF memento and trophies are awarded to the winner and to the furthest male and female distances. Winners and record breakers may receive free entry to a future edition.

Entry policies and practical notes include a no refunds policy after 14 days from sign-up, a new £15 fee for name transfers, a final transfer deadline of 20 February and a waiting list option. In recent years a large proportion of starters had never run a backyard ultra before. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
