Montana Winter Cup at Pattee Canyon Recreation Area
This two day cross-country ski event at Pattee Canyon Recreation Area in Missoula, Montana is held as part of the Montana Nordic Cup (events 4 and 5). Each day begins with check in, bib pick up, and on-site registration at the gazebo in the lower area. Wax recommendations will be emailed the week of the races and on-site waxing is available for free.
Races across the weekend include short laps for beginners and kids and longer skate and skiathlon formats for other categories. Course details provided by the organizer:
- 1 km classic or skate, three laps on the lower ZANY area
- 5 km skate, two laps using the meadow and lower picnic loop
- 10 km skate, four laps on the same circuit
- 10 km skiathlon, 5 km classic then 5 km skate with a transition in the ZANY Field
Podiums are awarded after each day's races. Parking at Pattee Canyon can be limited; overflow parking is along the right-hand side of the road and drivers are asked to be considerate. A post-race chili feed potluck is planned with chili provided by the organizers and participants asked to bring cornbread. All racers receive a prize.
