Event Overview
Race The Tide is an obstacle event held within the grounds of the historic Muncaster Castle in the Lake District. The event features a course that utilizes the natural terrain of the area, including woodlands and river crossings. Since its inception in 2013, the race has grown into an annual tradition that attracts over 300 participants.
Course Details
The event consists of a single distance:
- 10 km obstacle race
Participants navigate through mud, wade through rivers, and scramble up wooded hillsides while encountering various obstacles along the way. The route begins and ends in the gardens of the castle. The event allows for participation with dogs, and runners are permitted to wear costumes during the race.
Weekend Activities and Accommodation
The event offers a multi-day experience with various onsite activities. These include castle tours, bird displays, and a weapons hall. A celebratory dinner and a ceilidh are held following the race.
