Race The Tide at Muncaster Castle
Race The Tide is a 10 km obstacle race held at Muncaster Castle in the Lake District. The event is scheduled for August 6–8, 2027 and takes place across wild, natural terrain on the castle grounds and surrounding hillsides.
The course leads participants through mud crawls, river wades, a series of constructed obstacles, and scrambles to the tops of wooded slopes. The event combines open-air running with terrain features typical of the local landscape.
A weekender ticket bundles multiple elements: access to Muncaster Castle, camping for the weekend, race entry, a Saturday night dinner and a ceilidh. The weekend program also lists activities such as castle tours, bird displays and a weapons hall.
The event began in 2013 and is organised by a volunteer committee with local connections. It has grown to over 300 runners annually while maintaining a community feel.
