About the race
The Punxsutawney Area Hospital Foundation hosts the Mahoning Shadow Shuffle to benefit the Punxsutawney Area Hospital Foundation Cancer Care Fund. The event takes place in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania at Mahoning Valley VFW 2076, 121 Maple Ave.
Distances offered include:
- 13.1 Miles Half Marathon
- 10K
- 5K
- 1 Mile Kids Fun Run/Walk
The course follows the Mahoning Shadow Trail on the Punxsutawney Rails to Trails. Professional timing and course marking are provided by Miles of Smiles. The event is held rain or shine and there are no refunds.
Entrance fees as listed:
- Preregistered: Half Marathon $30, 10K $25, 5K $25
- Day of race: Half Marathon $25, 10K $30, 5K $30
- Kids 1 Mile: free
Shirts are not provided for the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk; participants in that event receive participant medals. Some extra shirts or items may be available for purchase at the event.
Awards are given to the top three finishers male and female overall and in each age group. Age categories are: Up to 20, 21 to 30, 31 to 40, 41 to 50, 51 to 60, and 61 and up. Dogs may run if leashed and under control; the first canine finisher in each race will win a prize. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
