Pumpkin Plod
Pumpkin Plod takes place at Ferry Meadows, part of Nene Park in Peterborough. The event is organised around a 5.3 km lap that runs on gravel footpaths and some grass areas, creating a mixed-surface course.
The event is offered in multi-hour formats; participants run as many laps as they can in the allotted time and may rest between laps. Race HQ and the base camp are located at the start and lap point near the Lakeside Centre on the watersports side of the park. A water and aid station is available each lap.
Standard lap counts given as examples in event information include:
- 5 laps for a heavy half marathon
- 9 laps for an ultra marathon
Organisers note there is flexibility to change lap targets on the day, for example adding extra laps up to the time available. Participants collect bib numbers at registration near the Zig Zag gazebos and start arch that are visible from the car park. Parking at the park is chargeable.
The organisers recommend road trainers for the course, with trail shoes optional depending on recent weather. A bespoke event medal is provided to finishers unless a non-specific finisher medal option is chosen. The event operates as a cupless event so runners should bring their own bottles or cups for refilling. Virtual places are offered for those who wish to complete the distance remotely.
