Portland Trail Series
The Portland Trail Series is a low-key evening trail running series held in Forest Park in Portland. It is organized as three separate five-race Series across spring, summer, and fall, with races held every other week. Each event uses a different course, with distances typically around 4 to 7 miles, and the terrain includes hilly trail sections.
Series scoring requires participation in at least four races within a given five-race Series to be included in the overall standings. One route per Series may be a Mystery Route: the distance is announced in advance but the specific trails are not posted; courses are marked on race day so runners follow the route without prior detail. Maps for each route are posted the Monday before each race.
The Series benefits the Forest Park Conservancy. A post-Series gathering at the Lucky Lab Beer Hall follows the final race, where Series and age-group awards are presented and a raffle is held; food and beer are part of the event there. Single-race drop-in registration is available on-site for $25 cash and entries are accepted in order until capacity is reached.
Registrations are nontransferable and nonrefundable; cancellations more than 30 days before the race receive a 50% credit toward a future event, and cancellations within 30 days receive no credit. Free street parking is available nearby. Training support is available from Wy'east Wolfpack. The races occur on the traditional homelands of the Cowlitz, Clackamas, Atfalati, and Kalapuya Tribes.
