Pocahontas Trail Festival
The Pocahontas Trail Festival takes place on October 4, 2026 at Pocahontas State Park, 10301 State Park Rd., Chesterfield, VA 23832. The event offers two trail races: a 10k and a half marathon. Registration opens October 5, 2025 and closes October 4, 2026; registration fees are listed per race.
- Half Marathon: 13.1 Miles
- 10k: 6.2 Miles
The race uses professional chip timing and provides live results. Race numbers include timing chips; competitors are asked not to fold or remove the chip and to keep the number visible. Packet pickup is on race day at the staging area in the park.
The staging area is located about 1.5 miles into the park on State Park Rd, at the pool parking lot and boat launch. Start, finish and staging are on the large grass field adjacent to the boat launch, with event activity centered at black and orange tents. Regular park parking fees apply for vehicles without a state park permit; all day weekend parking is currently $10 per car load. The park accepts cards, but cash can speed entry at the contact station.
The course was redesigned with new hiking trails. The races share the first 10k; the half marathon continues on a larger loop and finishes with more recently built trails, including Coop and Trooper Trails. Water stations are placed at roughly 3, 6 and 9 miles. Participants should plan for remote trail sections and consider carrying a refillable water pack and personal fuel.
