Pleasant Mountain Race
The Pleasant Mountain Race is a 21k trail event scheduled for September in Bridgton, Maine. Organized by the Loon Echo Race Series, the event follows a course that starts and finishes at the Pleasant Mountain East Lodge. The route primarily consists of technical single-track trails and traverses the ridge of Pleasant Mountain.
The course features significant elevation changes, beginning with a climb of 1,700 feet over two miles up Bald Peak. After descending via the Firewarden’s trail, the route circumnavigates the base toward the Southwest Ridge Trailhead. Participants then face another 1,900 feet of gain over 2.5 miles to reach the summit. The final sections take runners across the northern ridge and down the technical Sue’s Way trail before returning to the lodge via Bald Peak and Mountain Road.
One aid station is located on the course at the Southwest Ridge Trailhead, offering water, Tailwind, and various snacks. There is no official cutoff time for the event. All proceeds from the race benefit the Loon Echo Land Trust.
Mandatory Gear Due to potential mountain weather changes, participants must carry specific equipment, which is checked during bib pickup:
- At least 500 mL of water
- At least 400 calories of food
- A windbreaker or rain shell
- A space blanket or emergency foil blanket
- A headlamp
Event Amenities Participants receive a technical t-shirt, a finisher medal, and access to a post-race gathering featuring a food truck, live music, and beverages.
