About the race
Piódão Trail Running is an annual trail running event organized by Associação Desportiva O Mundo da Corrida. The routes run through areas of the Serra do Açor and cross territories in the municipalities of Arganil and Oliveira do Hospital. The event is presented as a multi-distance meeting with competitive and non-competitive options and includes multiple aid stations along the courses.
Distances offered:
- 53 km Trail Ultra with measured positive and negative elevation of 2950 m.
- 25 km Trail Longo with 1500 m of positive and negative elevation.
- 13 km Trail Curto with 670 m of positive and negative elevation.
- 13 km non-competitive course to run or walk.
Entries are handled exclusively through an online registration platform and require payment of a registration fee. Age minimums apply by distance: 20 years for the 53 km, juniors (18–19) may enter the 25 km, and juveniles (16–17) may enter the 13 km. The event uses electronic timing with a chip integrated in the race bib; the bib must remain visible at all times and is required for access to control and supply stations. Mandatory equipment lists vary by distance and include items such as a charged mobile phone, thermal blanket and a personal cup. The organizer provides refreshments, a finish replenishment point, a finisher prize and postrace massage. The organizer reserves the right to modify routes, control points or schedules for safety reasons. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
