PIM Running Festival - Crathes Castle 2026

The PIM Running Festival takes place on 12 September 2026 at Crathes Castle in Banchory, organised by the National Trust for Scotland. The event includes races for adults and children across the castle grounds and nearby country roads.

Distances offered include:

  • Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
  • 5 km
  • 1.5 km children’s race

The Half Marathon starts and finishes on the lawn in front of Crathes Castle and follows a loop that goes onto quiet country roads to the north and east of the estate, passing toward the estate of Drum Castle before returning. Much of the route is on quiet back roads with a couple of level off road farm track sections. The 5 km and 1.5 km routes share the same start and finish area but remain within the scenic grounds of Crathes Castle.

Prizes are awarded for each event. The Half Marathon includes category prizes for runners aged over 50, over 60, and over 70. All finishers receive a medal and an event T shirt. Age requirements are set for each race: the children’s 1.5 km is for school years P1 to P7, the 5 km is for age 12 and older, and the Half Marathon is for age 18 and older. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
