South Wales - Dirty Dancing
Phoenix Running South Wales holds an event celebrating the 40th Anniversary of DIRTY DANCING on Sunday 22 August 2027 at Barry Sidings Country Park. The event is a timed format that lets participants choose how far to go within a seven hour limit.
The course is an out and back route along the Taff Trail. Laps measure 5.3 km (3.28 miles) and start near Barry Sidings Cafe. Runners head toward Pontypridd to a turnaround, retrace past the aid station, the cafe, and the lakes to Trehafod for the lap turnaround, and return to the aid station to complete each lap. The route is fully on tarmac or pavement and has about 50 m of elevation gain and loss per lap. The event is classed as a Road course and holds a course accuracy certificate from AUKCM (25/431). A race license has been applied for with Welsh Athletics.
Distances and entry options include a medal entry or a lower cost no medal option. Fees listed for standard entries are £33 affiliated and £35 unaffiliated, with a no medal entry available from £20. The event uses a flexible rock up and run start format and organisers may try to accommodate special start time requests depending on planned distance. As per UK Athletics rules, distance restrictions apply to participants aged 20 or under.
Participants receive event support including an aid station, same day results, athlete profiles, digital BIBs, and digital finishers certificates. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
