Event overview
PFW Running - Granny's Bay Challenge is a timed running event held in Lytham St. Annes, Lancashire, based at the Lytham Spitfire Memorial. The event runs on a flat tarmac path along the Ribble estuary and uses a multi-lap course around the coast path, Fairhaven lake, Granny's Bay and Lytham green. Participants have views across the estuary, including Lytham windmill and the surrounding coastline.
Entries are limited to 100 participants. The event is a six hour timed event. Minimum age is 18 years. Age restrictions state that participants aged 18 to 19 have a maximum distance of marathon and participants over 20 have no maximum distance. Refunds are not permitted. Deferrals and transfers are allowed up to one week before the event date.
Course and distances
The lap distance is 5.24 miles on a flat out-and-back or loop route. Completion of at least one lap qualifies a runner as a finisher and earns an official time and a medal.
- Marathon: five laps (each lap 5.24 miles)
- Half marathon: two full laps plus a 2.62 mile short loop
- Single lap: complete one lap to be recorded as a finisher
