Petzl Night Trails 10K - Coombe Abbey
This is a night trail race of 10 km at Coombe Abbey Park, Coventry. The park is managed by Coventry City Council and has postcode CV3 2AB. The site is on the outskirts of Coventry, about six minutes from Junction 2 of the M6, and the closest train station is Coventry. Parking on site costs up to £3 for 1 to 2 hours and there is a toilet block next to the event HQ.
A head or chest torch is required to take part; participants without a torch will not be permitted to run. Petzl will attend the event with demo kit so participants can try head torches before, during or after the race.
The course runs through woodland, meadow and grass fields. Surfaces may be muddy or firm depending on weather. Runners should expect exposed tree roots, uneven ground and a few gates. The route is undulating but not hilly. There is a tighter section with an out-and-back where dogs on leads are not allowed.
Biodegradable cups with water and electrolyte will be available on course, and a collapsible cup may be brought if preferred. Entries use tiered pricing, with an extra £2 for unaffiliated entrants. The effective cut-off time is two hours, based on medic cover and daylight considerations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
