Pendle Way on a Midsummers Night

Pendle Way on a Midsummers Night is a limited-entry night staging of the Pendle Way route held when Midsummer falls on a weekend. The event is arranged to provide night-time navigation practice on the trails and moorland around Pendle in the South Pennines. Registration and parking are at Barley Village Hall in Barley, Lancashire.

The route includes mapped checkpoints and self-clip points along valley and moorland terrain. At about 20 miles into the route participants may choose to finish on the shorter option or continue through the night for the full distance. GPX tracks and written instructions are made available for guidance, and an OS 1:25k map will be provided on the day; OL21 is also recommended.

Required kit includes full body waterproof cover, map, headtorch and spare batteries or a second headtorch, compass, whistle, mug, fully charged mobile phone, and appropriate fell or trail footwear. A map (OS 1:25k) will be provided. Minimum entrant age is 18 years. Dogs are not permitted. Transfers are allowed up to one month before the event. Donations from the event are made to local charitable causes.
