Peavine Peak Hill Climb - October 17, 2026

The Peavine Peak Hill Climb is the third annual hill running event held in Reno, NV. The course covers 9.4 miles with a total elevation gain of 3,018 ft and begins and ends at Melton Elementary School.

The route starts with approximately half a mile on access roads and neighborhood trails before entering Chalk Canyon. Runners ascend Chalk Canyon on singletrack for about 2 miles to an aid station at the Peavine Road intersection. From there the course turns onto a rocky ATV trail on Tower Ridge for a steep climb to the summit of Peavine Peak. After crossing the summit, the route descends about 2.4 miles on the smoother dirt of Peavine Road to a second aid station near the top of Chalk Canyon. The return follows the same canyon descent back to the elementary school.

The event description notes two aid stations along the course and a mix of surface types including access roads, neighborhood trails, singletrack, rocky ATV trail, and dirt road. The course layout emphasizes an out and back pattern with a summit crossing and reciprocal descent through Chalk Canyon. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
