About the race
The Paris Mountain Half Marathon is a single 13.1 miles loop through Paris Mountain State Park in Greenville, SC. The course mixes singletrack and wide switchbacks, climbs two large rises for a total of 2,300 feet of elevation gain, and passes three lakes with waterfalls and panoramic summit views. The Sulphur Springs switchbacks are a prominent feature on the route.
Two aid stations are located at mile 4.6 and mile 10.4. The event is cup-less; participants need a personal hydration vessel. Available snacks listed by the organizer include pickles, cookies, chips, Fig Newtons, and pretzels. Hydration options include water, Coke, and ginger ale.
Start and finish are at Shelter #3 in the park. Parking uses the field adjacent to the main parking lot and requires a $5 special use permit paid during registration. Chip timing is used and live results post as runners finish. All finishers receive a medal and a custom race tattoo; the fastest three overall male and female finishers earn trophies and age group awards are given in 15 categories. Post-race provisions include pancakes, music, and free event photos published after the race.
The race is part of the Upstate Trail Series and supports local nonprofits through the Upstate Giving Series. Dogs on leash are allowed on course, headphones are permitted, and the park closes trails to bikes on Saturdays. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
