About the race
The Paluma Village Trail Run is the sixth and final event in the Outer Limits Trail Run Series, held in Paluma within the Wet Tropics World Heritage area. Race HQ, start and finish for all distances, is at the Village Green (56 Mt Spec Road). The village sits at over 900 m elevation and offers cooler conditions compared with the coast.
The event offers three course options with published entry fees:
- 6 km: Early Bird $40 | General $45 | Late $55
- 10 km: Early Bird $50 | General $55 | Late $65
- 20 km: Early Bird $60 | General $65 | Late $75 A junior short-distance entry is also available.
The course is remote and rainforest trail based. It is technical with mossy rocks, slippery tree roots, tricky creek crossings and occasional fallen trees. Participants may encounter leeches and wildlife. Marshals and course marking are provided; first aid support and on-course hydration are available. On-course professional photography and electronic timing with a timing chip are included in the entry fee. Post-race facilities include a recovery station, fruit buffet, a complimentary post-race sausage for participants and a BBQ run by the local community association.
Mandatory gear is required for the 10 km and 20 km courses and includes two compression bandages, a fully charged phone, a whistle, an emergency blanket and sufficient hydration and nutrition. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
