Oriflamme 50k
Oriflamme 50k on April 10, 2027 is an out and back trail ultramarathon that begins at the Sunrise Trailhead parking area and follows the Pacific Crest Trail north. The route moves onto Mason Valley Truck Trail for an approximate 2,000 foot descent into the desert, continues on soft desert track and the California Riding and Hiking Trail, crosses the S2 road, passes through Box Canyon, and reaches the Blair Valley turnaround. Runners return the same way with a sustained climb up Oriflamme Canyon covering a final 5 plus miles back to the trailhead.
The course includes mostly single track with rolling terrain for the initial 5.4 miles and sections where footing is sandy and rocky. Aid stations are located along the route and are described as fully stocked with water, electrolyte drink, gels, fruit, salty snacks, sweets, drinks, and other foods. Noted mile markers include Mason Valley Aid Station at mile 5.4 and mile 26.0, S2 Aid Station at mile 13.2 and mile 18.2, Blair Valley turnaround at about mile 15.7, and the finish at mile 31.4. The event has a 9 hour time limit, a 150 runner limit, a technical t shirt for entrants, and medals for finishers. Oriflamme 50k is a qualifying race in the SoCal Ultra Series.
