About the race
Zanfel Orienteering Race #4 Finale takes place on November 21, 2026, at the Panama Community Center, 307 Locust St, Panama, NE 68419. The event is the final race of the 2026 series and uses a foot orienteering format with competitors navigating to checkpoints.
The course distance is 5 miles. Racers travel on trails along the edges of town and within town limits, including paths by creeks, pasture trails, and wooded areas. CalTopo maps will be pre-plotted for competitors, and organizers note the Handy GPS app as a tool to view coordinates.
Entry options include solo competitors and teams of two or three persons, with coed, male, and female categories. The registration period opens May 1, 2026, and closes November 6, 2026. The registration fee is $40 per person. Organizers provide snacks and drinks on site.
A three hour course cutoff applies. Medals are awarded to the top three finishers in both team and solo categories. The event centers on navigation and route choice across mixed terrain rather than on a single trail type. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
