Open to Offas : Merseystride (Sat 8 Aug 2026)

Open to Offas is a Merseystride challenge event in northeast Wales that follows sections of the Offas Dyke Path across the Clwydian Hills. Organisers welcome both walkers and runners. The event is listed as full with a waiting list still open.

Three route options are offered, each using the Offas Dyke Path and covering varied ascent:

  • 32 miles: 1944 m ascent
  • 24 miles: 1507 m ascent
  • 16 miles: 851 m ascent

The event has a 12.5 hour time limit and includes at least one checkpoint with a cut-off. The start and finish are based at Cilcain village hall, postcode CH7 5NN, grid reference SJ176652. Parking, refreshments and a certificate are included in the entry fee.

Entry fees are stated as £14 for LDWA members and £20 for non members, with a £2 discount available before June 2026. Entries are managed via SI Entries. Accommodation is available within 20 km for participants, for example in Holywell approximately 11 km away.

A multi-terrain club race on Thursday 6 August 2026 around Care & Repair, Rowley’s Drive, Shotton, covering approximately 4 miles. Pre-entry fees apply; entrants must be 17 or older and entries are limited.
A 12 or 24 hour hill and trail event on a 5.8 km loop with 400 m ascent per lap, offering solo, pairs and team entries plus on-site camping and timed lap scoring.
