Olympic Mountains Trail Races

The Olympic Mountains Trail Races are a multi-distance trail race weekend held in the Olympic National Forest near Quilcene and Sequim, Washington. The event offers running and ruck divisions on mountain trails and forest roads.

Distances

  • 100K 62.65 miles, 14,300' gain, high point 5,820', 80% single-track, 21 hour cut-off
  • 50K 31.7 miles, 8,600' gain, high point 5,800', 74% single-track, 14 hour cut-off
  • 25K 15.7 miles, 3,700' gain, high point 4,272', 55% single-track, 6 hour cut-off
  • 10K 6.56 miles, 1,115' climb, 52% single-track, 2 hour cut-off

Course and aid stations include long climbs to mountain ridges and high points such as Mount Townsend and Mount Zion, ridge running, creek crossings, and a mix of runnable downhills and steep pitches. The 100K is a continuous point-to-point course with ten aid stations; the first aid station is about 10.15 miles in and subsequent stations are spaced roughly 3.6 to 6.8 miles apart. Several aid stations provide electrolyte drink mixes, gels, water and a range of foods, with hot food available at some stations later in the day.

Logistics note that Race HQ is in a retired quarry in the Olympic National Forest about 12 miles from US 101 near Quilcene. Camping is available on site; port-a-potties are provided and no dogs are allowed at Race HQ or on the course.

Prizes include cash awards for top finishers in the 100K and course record bonuses for the 50K and 25K. Ruck divisions receive finisher patches and age group awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
