Old Dominion
The Old Dominion is a 100 mile endurance run scheduled for June 5, 2027, centered at the Shenandoah County Fairgrounds in Fort Valley, Virginia. The course is a measured loop that passes through the Massanutten Mountains, the Shenandoah River Valley, and Fort Valley. It includes 14 significant climbs and about 14,000 feet of total elevation gain.
The route covers a mix of surfaces: pavement, gravel roads, single track trails, ATV trails, logging roads, rocks, streams, mud and some additional gravel. The event is not solely a trail race; the planned route requires runners to handle both road and trail terrain in a single outing. The course is described as a fair test of endurance for those attempting 100 miles in one day.
Time limits are defined: a 24 hour cutoff is set to earn the silver buckle and a 28 hour limit applies to finish. The Old Dominion is part of the Grand Slam of Ultrarunning series. Registration for the event opens on November 28, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
