Ogwen | Yr Helgi Du 2027

Ogwen | Yr Helgi Du is a mountain trail running event in Eryri's Ogwen Valley, based at Plas y Brenin in Capel Curig on 24 July 2027. Races run on marked, technical trails that pass over some of the highest mountains in England and Wales and use ridge lines in the Carneddau and Glyderau ranges.

  • 40K Includes Carneddau and Glyderau ridge lines with additional ascent
  • 25K Route through Carneddau focusing on mountain ridgelines and technical terrain
  • 15K Shorter mountain route using marked trails in the Ogwen Valley

The event provides course support and safety measures including Mountain Leader support on the routes, friendly marshals, signage, energy stations and support vehicles. Timing is managed with chip timing and online results. A central event village at Plas y Brenin offers music, commentary, shopping, food, drink and toilets. Finishers receive a designed memento reflecting the event location.

A mountain running weekend in Rhyd-Ddu, Eryri / Snowdonia on 15 August 2026 with four skyraces from 16 km to 55 km over high, technical terrain.
A very short but steep mountain race on Tryfan near Bethesda, with exposed rocky terrain and expert navigation required. Minimum age over 18 and a £1 entry fee supports Ogwen Mountain Rescue.
A hill race near Porthmadog covering 7.2 km with 564 m of ascent, partially marked and requiring navigational skills and experience. Entry is day only for £5 and teams may enter free.
