The ODO Gobbler Run & Ruck
The ODO Gobbler Run & Ruck takes place on November 28 in South Glastonbury, Connecticut, with start and finish at Hops on the Hill Brewery. The course is off-road through local farm lands and is organized by Open Doors Outdoors as the group's final event of the year.
Distances offered include:
- 5 km run or walk
- 5 km ruck
- 5 miles run
- 1 mile kids fun run (option for 0.5 mile)
Ruck participants follow standard weights of 20 pounds for men and 10 pounds for women; a weight vest or a loaded backpack may be used. Participants may load backpacks with canned goods or peanut butter for donation to Veterans Basecamp's food pantry. Finishers receive a finisher's patch for the ruck or a medal for run events. The race is professionally timed.
Prizes are awarded to top male and female finishers in each event with a pair of Hoka shoes (up to $180 value) provided by Fleet Feet Glastonbury; second and third place receive ODO merchandise. Registration fee is $40 with a $45 day of event fee; packet pick-up is available Friday, November 27 at Fleet Feet Glastonbury. General registration closes November 20 while kids registration remains open through the event day. Volunteers are needed and receive access to the post-event chili, beverages and s'mores and are entered into a raffle. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
