NorCal Backyard Ultra
The NorCal Backyard Ultra is a multi-day endurance event held at Beals Point, Granite Bay, California, on October 23–25, 2026. It uses the Backyard Ultra format on a measured loop of 4.16 miles with about 320 ft of elevation gain per lap.
The main Last Person Standing event runs continuously in hourly increments: at the top of each hour runners must start the next lap and finish the previous one; failing to be at the start line at the top of the hour ends that runner's race. The event continues until only one runner remains. A Mini Last Person Standing follows the same hourly format but concludes for all participants after 12 hours.
There is a single aid station at the start/finish area under a tent offering water, hydration mix, light snacks, and warm food. No aid is provided along the course and on-course crew assistance is not allowed. Participants are encouraged to bring their own aid station supplies and set them up near the start/finish area between laps.
All finishers receive a NorCal Backyard Ultra quarter zip and a custom wood award scaled to miles completed; the top finisher receives a custom wood plaque. The event also includes The Unity Initiative, which offers matched donations and future race discounts for contributions to selected nonprofit partners, with donations required in 2025 prior to the event date.
