NK50k

The NK50k is an annual event that takes participants on a point-to-point tour of the Northern Kettle Moraine Ice Age Trail in Wisconsin. The course travels through the Northern Kettle Moraine State Forest, featuring a variety of terrain including smooth and rolling ski trails, the rocky and rooty Ice Age Trail, and the highest point in the forest.

Participants can choose from two distances:

  • 50 km
  • 25 km

The event begins at the Ridge Road Trailhead for the full distance and at Crooked Lake for the shorter distance. Both routes conclude at the Greenbush Group Camp. Transportation is provided via bus from the finish area to the respective starting points.

Aid stations are located at specific intervals, including Mile 3.5 and Mile 25 for those completing the 50 km distance. These stations provide water, sports drinks, soda, and standard ultramarathon food items. Additional water access is available at backcountry shelters along the route. Participants have access to drop bags at designated points.

The gathering after the run takes place at the Greenbush Group Camp Shelter, where food and refreshments are served. This event is organized as a run rather than a competitive race, and results are not posted on official registration platforms. Finishers receive a commemorative sticker. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
