Night Howler 50
The Night Howler 50 is a 50 mile overnight lap race held at Hoover Sports Park East in Hoover, Alabama on June 26, 2027. The event is organized by The Running Birds and uses a 2.5 mile loop that runners repeat twenty times to complete the full distance. The course is marked and runs across a bridge over the Cahaba River, includes a descent down four flights of stairs into wooded trails, and is generally flat with a few small inclines and declines.
The start/finish area is located by the field house in the middle of the baseball fields and also serves as the aid station. A full service aid station will provide food and hydration on every lap; the event is cup-less so participants must bring their own cups or bottles. Pacers are allowed at any time and there is space for crews to set up tents or personal aid stations outside the race course. All participants must be 19 or older.
Runners must complete twenty laps within 16 hours to be an official finisher and receive the custom belt buckle. Race day packet pickup takes place at the start/finish area and includes a race bib and a custom t-shirt; a photo ID is required. The event is held rain or shine.
