NAV4 Daffodil Run and Walk

The NAV4 Daffodil Run and Walk began in 2016 to support the local village after the Bridge was lost in the Cumbria floods and has been held subsequently. The event is an out-and-back route from Pooley Bridge to Hallin Fell, following predominately the Ullswater Way and returning the same way.

The surface is a mixture of good trails and paths, some sections can be wet under foot, a short length of tarmac lane, and the open slopes of Hallin Fell on a reasonably good path. The route is signposted and marshalled at key points, and electronic timing and monitoring are used. There is a checkpoint and drinks station at Martindale Church, passed twice on the full route. The event operates separate starting groups for walkers, slower runners and faster runners and does not use cut-offs.

Participants may choose shorter turning points on the route and then return to Pooley Bridge Memorial Hall, where registration, start and finish are based and refreshments are provided. Free tea, coffee, cold drinks and a tray bake are available in the village hall after the run or walk. Local pubs and cafes in Pooley Bridge are also nearby for post event refreshments.
