The Myrtle Beach 24 Hour is an endurance running event held in The Market Common area of Myrtle Beach, SC, organized by the City of Myrtle Beach’s Parks, Recreation and Sports Tourism Department. The race uses a certified paved loop of 1.0809 mile (USATF certification SC26001BDS). The loop remains open to the public on race day.
The event features an aid station at the start/finish area offering water, electrolyte drinks, typical ultra food such as chips and candy, and hot food. Directional signs and portapotties are placed on the course. Timing uses chip timers with a live leaderboard that updates as runners cross the start/finish; bibs must be placed on the front of the body.
Awards and prizes include a buckle for anyone completing 100 miles or more, a medal for any distance under 100 miles, and prize money mailed by check to the top three men and top three women (first place $1,000, second place $500, third place $300). A sticker for surpassing the Race Director’s PR was noted for runs over 109.4830 miles; the required distance may change.
Support arrangements include a designated tent city where 10x10 canopies are allowed (no camping tents, no propane heaters). Power outlets are available first come, first served.
