Murphy’s Mission : Run for Hamilton Animal Services
Murphy’s Mission is a charity trail event organised by Steeltown Canicross at Christie Lake Conservation Area, gathering runners and canicross teams to support Hamilton Animal Services adoption efforts. The course is a scenic 5 km loop with mixed surfaces including grass, gravel, rolling hills, and double-track trails. Participants registered in the 10 km category complete two loops. The event will be chip timed and parking is free at the venue. Activities are based at Beach Pavilion 2 in Christie Lake Conservation Area.
The event offers several race categories and a 5 km fun walk for participants without canicross equipment. Canicross categories require a properly fitted sport harness, a padded waist belt, and a 1.5–2 m bungee line; standard leashes and collars are not permitted for canicross. Canicross starters leave in small waves of eight teams with spacing measures for safety. Dogs must remain on leash at all times off the canicross line and participants are asked to follow trail etiquette, including yielding when passing, maintaining distance from other teams, and picking up waste.
Proceeds support the Hamilton Animal Services adoption program, which funds medical care, behavioural support, enrichment supplies, and outreach. The event has a no refund policy and allows bib transfers for a fee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
