About the race
The Stinson Beach/Muir Woods event offers three trail distances that start at Stinson Beach Park and move into the wooded trails of Muir Woods. The course leaves sea level at the start and climbs on the Dipsea trail toward Steep Ravine, including a wooden ladder, natural rock and wooden staircases, and sections that require scrambling under fallen trunks. Runners pass brooks and waterfalls and run among towering redwoods and oaks before reaching a summit with panoramic views and descending back to Stinson Beach.
Distances:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
- 7 Mile
The course is marked with orange ribbon. The 7 Mile course turns at the first aid station; half marathoners and marathoners complete a loop, marathoners repeat the loop and include an additional out and back with a signed turnaround.
