MTC BEITHIR

MTC BEITHIR is a single day ultra organised as part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge and forms Day 6 of the MTC SCOTIA series. The route runs from Forces Manor in Kingussie to Travelodge Inverness, covering approximately 38.5 miles with recorded ascent of 2,256 ft and descent of 2,978 ft.

Entries are limited to 20 competitors with an additional allowance of 20 for SCOTIA entrants, giving a maximum field of 40. The event enforces preset cut off times at checkpoints based on a minimum average speed of 4 mph; competitors who fall below that minimum may be withdrawn. The race is cup free and competitors should bring a reusable cup.

Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants only and are emailed about four weeks before the event. Each competitor receives a tracking device with an SOS function for monitoring and safety. Checkpoint food examples include malt loaf, cake, sandwiches, sweets, squash, cola and water.

Mandatory kit required for all competitors includes a backpack or equivalent, head torch with spare batteries, route maps as provided by the organiser, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, an emergency food pack including two chocolate bars, and a basic first aid kit. Competitors are expected to carry waterproof map protection.

Finishers receive a BEITHIR medal; male and female champions also receive bespoke trophies. Entry options list a standard fee of £90 and a plus package at £155 that includes a race shirt and hi viz jacket. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
