Mountains-to-Sea Trail 13M & 50K Challenge
The event is a spring trail race held on the Mountains to Sea Trail through woods along the Eno River toward Falls Lake. The 2027 edition is the 18th annual running of this race and will be based at Riverside High School in Durham, NC.
Two distances are offered:
- 13 miles
- 50K
Registration opens 14 December 2026 and closes 27 February 2027. Registration fees listed by the organizer are $50 for the 13 mile race and $80 for the 50K race.
The course is single-track hiking trail with natural trail features such as roots, rocks, logs, quick turns, woodland wildlife, and possible water crossings. Organizers intend to provide a well-marked course, well-stocked aid stations, plenty of volunteers, and accurate results. The event will be cupless; participants are asked to carry their own hydration device. Water and electrolyte drinks will be available at all aid stations and at the finish area.
All participants receive a custom race shirt and a finisher award. Additional awards are given to the top three overall finishers and to the top masters finishers for both men and women.
