Mountain Ultra Trail by UTMB
The Mountain Ultra Trail or MUT by UTMB is a festival of trail running held in the garden city of George on South Africa’s east coast. The event is scheduled from 27 May 2027 to 30 May 2027 and is organised around the Outeniqua Mountains that rise from the urban edge.
Trails run through fynbos and old growth indigenous forests and cross peaks that reach up to 1,578 meters above sea level. High points along the routes provide views over the Indian Ocean to the south and across the arid Karoo to the north. The terrain includes long ridgelines, valleys and established hiking paths that form the race routes.
The event programme includes multiple races with different distances and elevation gains:
- MUT Miler by UTMB: 168 KM, 8014 M+, Running Stones 4
