Trail Running in Pine Creek Valley
The Mountain Man Ultra is a long-distance trail running event held in Waterville, Pennsylvania. The race takes place within Little Pine State Park and utilizes a course previously known as the Call of the Wilds. The route is characterized by its technical terrain and significant elevation changes, featuring approximately 7,500 feet of total elevation gain over the course of the race.
Participants navigate a variety of surfaces, beginning with a road section that transitions into the technical and rocky Mid State Trail. The course includes several significant ascents across locations such as Spiked Buck, Tiadaghton, and Pesto. A notable steep climb occurs at the 26 mile mark at Torbert, followed by a final descent through Panther Run toward the finish line.
