Moonriver Night Race
Moonriver Night Race is a night time fell race in the Dovedale valley, starting from The Old Dog in Thorpe. The course covers 9.5 km with approximately 345 m of ascent and runs over open fields, a rocky riverside trail, a woodland climb and undulating footpaths.
The event is licensed by the Fell Runners Association and governed by FRA rules. Full FRA kit is required, including a headtorch; carrying a spare headtorch and a mobile phone for emergencies is recommended. The use of GPS navigation or poles is not allowed, and running with dogs is prohibited. Competitors must carry the mandatory kit listed in the race information and may be disqualified for rule breaches.
Registration takes place at The Old Dog pub. Parking is available at the pub and nearby car parks, and at the Peveril of the Peak hotel; local car parks are pay and display. Prizegiving includes individual and team prizes across multiple age categories, with team prizes for three-person teams. The event has a minimum age of 18 and a maximum capacity of 250 runners. Entry fees shown are GBP 12 for FRA members and GBP 14 for non members, with entries opening on 1 August 2026 and closing on 5 January 2027.
