Moonriver Night Race
Moonriver Night Race is a night-time fell race held in the Dovedale valley. The course runs across open fields, along a rocky riverside trail, includes a woodland climb and follows undulating footpaths. The distance is 9.5 km with approximately 345 m of ascent.
The event is based at The Old Dog pub in Thorpe (DE6 2AT). Parking is available at the pub and at nearby car parks including Narlows Lane, Thorpe station and the Peveril of the Peak hotel. Entry capacity is limited to 250 runners and the minimum age is 18.
The race is licenced by the Fell Runners Association and governed by FRA rules. Full FRA kit is required; a headtorch is mandatory and a spare headtorch is recommended. Competitors are also asked to carry a mobile phone. The use of GPS navigation or poles is not allowed and running with dogs is not permitted. Competitors who do not carry the mandatory kit or who break the rules may be disqualified.
Prizes are awarded for individual and team categories, with standard veteran and age-group classifications and three-person team prizes. Entry fees are listed separately for FRA members and non-members. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
