Mingus Madness 50k
Mingus Madness 50k is a trail event on November 7, 2026 in Prescott Valley, AZ. The course runs on trails atop and around the Woodchute side of Mingus Mountain and is listed as a 50K distance; the route is described as approximately 33 miles with about 6,000 feet of vertical gain.
The event is grassroots and unofficial, non permitted, and minimally supported. The terrain is rugged and remote, and participants should expect substantial hiking in addition to running.
The course will use the same route as previous years and will include three aid stations and some post race food. Participants are advised to bring chairs or blankets because conditions can be chilly after the event.
There is a strict cutoff before the descent down the 102 trail into the second aid station, at roughly mile 14. Runners who do not meet that cutoff will be asked to take the 102 trail back to the start and finish, resulting in an about 18 mile option. There is no overall race cutoff, but continuing on the full course requires reaching the descent by the cutoff.
