Miami Backyard Ultra 2026
Miami Backyard Ultra is a traditional backyard ultramarathon held on December 19, 2026 at Miami Marine Stadium on Virginia Key. The course follows the same loop each hour and runs beside water, mangroves and concrete features of the stadium basin. The measured yard for the current course is 6.7056 km, which is approximately 4.167 miles (listed as 4 miles + 880 feet). Final measured course details will be published before race day.
The event uses the standard backyard format: one yard starts every hour. Each participant must complete the yard inside the hour and return to the starting corral before the next start. There is no predetermined cap on yards or finish distance. If a runner misses the bell or fails to start with the field, that runner is eliminated from further competition.
Core rules clarify on-course conduct and results. Runners must start from the corral with the field at the bell and may not take personal aid during an active yard. Pacers and non-competitors may not accompany runners on the course. Crew and spectators are permitted in designated areas and may support athletes between yards, while keeping the active course, starting corral and emergency routes clear.
