McCoy Flat Death Race
The McCoy Flat Death Race is an endurance event held in the North Eastern Utah desert at the McCoy Flats Trail Head in Vernal, UT 84078. The event takes place across the weekend of 07/17 to 07/19/2027. Participants run a 4.1 mile loop each hour and must complete each lap within that hour; failure to complete a lap on time or to start the next lap on time results in elimination. The event continues until a single runner remains.
Prizes are awarded based on laps completed by the top finishers. The final runner receives fifty dollars for every lap completed. Second place receives twenty dollars per lap and third place receives ten dollars per lap. Custom medals, swag bags, and race shirts are provided for all runners. A shirt guarantee applies to registrations received by July 3; extra shirts are distributed as available.
The race listing indicates the event is sold out, but an additional category was opened so late registrations can receive a medal and shirt at a later pickup at the Rec Center. Bag pickup, including shirt and race bib, is available Friday July 17 at Uintah Recreation, 610 S Vernal Avenue, and on race morning at the McCoy Flats Trailhead.
