Mayor's Challenge 5K + 1 Mile Fun Run 2026 - Costume Run
The Mayor's Challenge is the eighth annual event presented in the woods of Poricy Park in Red Bank. All proceeds benefit the nonprofit 180 Turning Lives Around. The event takes place on natural trails that include single track sections, bridges, and multiple hills; trails are not paved and are not suitable for strollers.
The event offers multiple participation options:
- 5K Race competitive 5K with chip timing for runners
- 5K Fitness Walk non-competitive walk along the same trail
- 1 Mile Fun Run family-friendly one mile distance
This is a costume run where participants may wear Halloween themed but run-safe costumes. Post-race awards include overall male and female top finishers, top finishers by age range, and top finishers in the 1 mile fun run. Costume awards are presented in categories for best group costume, most unique costume, and America 250 themed costume. Registration for runners includes a long sleeve sports-tek shirt while supplies last; runners receive a bib with timing chip and a finisher medal. The event is followed by a Halloween Hullabaloo.
