March Madness 10 Hour Endurance Trail Run
March Madness is a 10 hour endurance trail event held on a measured loop around Hopewell Lake at French Creek State Park, Pool Area, 843 Park Rd, Elverson, PA 19520. The course is a measured 4 mile loop that is approximately 45% paved roads/paths/firelanes and 55% rustic trail. Participants run repeated laps; total distance is determined by how many full laps are completed within the 10 hour limit.
Water and food are available only at the end of each lap. Awards are given based on the longest distance run, with time used only to break distance ties. Runners must complete an entire lap to receive credit for that lap, except when aiming for a predefined milestone distance where a turnaround spot is used. If a previous lap time makes it unlikely a lap can be finished before the 10 hour cutoff, a runner may be prevented from starting another lap.
Registration is online and closes at midnight the Wednesday before the race; race day registration may be available for cash or check while supplies last. Entry fees vary by registration date and may include a shirt and a wearable premium. Premiums listing mileage are mailed about 7 to 8 weeks after the event for runners who reach 20 miles or more.
Other notes: EMS on site, no refunds, no smoking at the race site, no alcohol in the park, dogs are allowed if leashed, registered pacers may join after two laps for a fee, and results are posted the next business day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
