Manchester - Phoenix Afterglow

Manchester - Phoenix Afterglow is the third event in a 2026 Summer Series held at Hardy Farm, Brookburn Road, Manchester M21 8FE, beside the River Mersey in Chorlton Water Park. The event uses an out-and-back lap of 5.3 km (3.28 miles) along a riverside towpath. Participants may complete as many or as few laps as they wish within the overall 7 hour time limit; the minimum distance is one lap (3.28 miles). Distances available include multiple-lap totals up to half marathon, marathon and ultra distances.

The course is off-road trail with very little elevation change, described as flat. There is a well-stocked vegetarian aid station throughout the event with many vegan and gluten free options; examples include bananas, dates, jelly sweets, crisps, cake, squash and cola. The organiser notes that those with severe allergies should bring their own food due to possible cross-contamination.

Toilets and changing rooms are available at the race headquarters. Parking for 75 cars is available at Hardy Farm on a first come, first served basis. Additional parking for up to 100 cars is available across the river at Sale Water Park, about a 15 minute walk from the start; the organiser requests that those planning longer distances consider the Sale Water Park car park. A chosen charity is The Animal Sanctuary, Wilmslow, with a donation of £1 per participant. Distance restrictions apply to participants aged 20 or under under UK Athletics rules. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
