About the race
The 20th Hangover Hike is a walking and running event based at The Leggers Inn in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. It offers circular routes and on-route refreshments, with the finish at The Leggers Inn.
Participants may choose one of three circular routes:
- 10 miles (15 km)
- 17 miles (27 km)
- 21 miles (34 km)
All routes converge at the main refreshment checkpoint, allowing participants to shorten or lengthen their route during the event. The route has changed for this edition; route descriptions, maps and GPX files will be available from the LDWA The Irregulars pages. Maps required are Explorer 278 and 288.
Both LDWA and non-LDWA walkers and runners may enter. U-18s must be LDWA members or walk with a parent or guardian. U-16s must walk with a parent or guardian. Dogs are allowed but must be kept under constant control. Entry fees listed include reduced and full rates and a free entry provision for accompanied children under 16; an on the day fee applies if places remain.
Entry includes tea and toast at registration, cold drinks and snacks at checkpoints, and a finisher certificate. Participants are asked to bring a mug. As a winter event, participants should carry suitable equipment including waterproofs, warm clothing, suitable footwear, map, compass, whistle and torch. Retiring participants must do so at a checkpoint and marshals may withdraw participants if necessary.
