About the race
Lap The Valley is a backyard ultramarathon held at the Boyne Valley Community Discovery Centre in Ubobo. Competitors must complete a 6.71 km lap within each hour to remain in the event; the last runner to complete the final lap alone is declared the sole finisher while all others are recorded as DNF. Day laps follow dirt trails through a cattle property with about 65 m of elevation.
Night laps use the Boyne Burnett Inland Rail Trail as an out-and-back with minimal elevation; a headlamp or torch is mandatory for night laps. The event is grassroots in style with limited on-site services. An aid station adjacent to the starting corral provides water and fruit for competitors only; no cups are supplied so runners must bring their own container. Port-a-loos are available near the corral and one camp-style toilet is located mid-course on the day lap.
Competitors must be self-sufficient on the night lap. Toilets are not provided on the night course. The course may be changed by organisers or authorities if required. Registration options include Unlimited Laps ($190), up to 10 laps ($110 with voucher), and free entry for those 16 and under (voucher required).
Maximum field is 110 and registrations close September 8, 2026 unless sold out. A portion of fees supports the Boyne Burnett Inland Rail Trail Inc. Runners must attend a mandatory pre-race briefing and follow event rules regarding lap starts, on-course conduct, and safety.
Risks inherent to trail events are noted and an indemnity form is required. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
