Lap The Valley Backyard Ultra
Lap The Valley is a backyard ultramarathon held at the Boyne Valley Community Discovery Centre in Ubobo. The event uses a repeating lap format: competitors must complete a 6.71 km circuit within each hour to be allowed to start the next lap. Day laps follow dirt trails through Bruin Park with about 65 m of elevation; night laps use an out-and-back on the Boyne Burnett Inland Rail Trail with minimal elevation.
The event is registered with BigsBackyardUltra.com and offers world ranking eligibility and selection opportunities for satellite championships. The current course record is 37 laps, set in 2025.
Registration options include unlimited laps, a capped-entry option for up to ten laps, and free entry for juniors with a supervising adult. A maximum of 110 participants will be accepted. The event is grassroots in character; prizes and a prize draw are offered but there is no participation medal or event shirt. A portion of registration fees is donated to the Boyne Burnett Inland Rail Trail Inc.
Rules require attendance at the race briefing and starting from the first lap; each lap must be completed within the hour to continue. Night laps require a headlamp or torch. An aid station near the corral provides water and fruit for competitors only; no personal aid is allowed on course. Organisers note natural risks and reserve the right to change or cancel the course for safety reasons. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
