The Lakes 3000 Ultra
The Lakes 3000 Ultra is a mountain ultramarathon covering 54 miles (87 km) with more than 15,000 ft (4,500 m) of ascent, linking four Lake District 3,000 ft peaks within a 24 hour time limit. The event is based at The Pencil Factory in Keswick and routes runners through valleys, technical ridgelines and remote high fell terrain.
The course is unmarked but follows established Public Rights of Way. Participants receive a verified GPX file, a waterproof map and detailed route notes for navigation. Live GPS tracking is included and provides real time location data for race control and spectators. Race support includes three dedicated high fell medical tents, four fully stocked aid stations, a drop bag facility at the start and finish, and hot food and drink at the finish.
Entry details state a minimum age of 20 on race day, entries are not vetted, and by entering participants confirm they are competent to complete the course. The entry fee listed is £180. The event is designated as a UTMB Index Race. Mandatory safety kit must be carried at all times and will be checked to meet the event rules and runner declaration, which include standards for conduct and environmental care.
