Lakeland Paws: Whinlatter Tails

This trail event takes place in Whinlatter forest and follows the original Seat How route. Two course options are offered over forest roads and trails, with the longer option reaching the summit of Seat How and returning to the visitors centre. The event uses individual starts for each athlete.

Course options include:

8K loop, 360m ascent, reaches the summit of Seat How.
5K route, 240m ascent, avoids Seat How and joins the longer course.

Some sections of the Seat How route are narrower and steeper; on those sections only one dog per runner is allowed and dogs must run on a suitable harness. Runners may also compete without dogs.

The event is chip timed and the course will be marked. GPX files are available for download. Minimum age is 16 or older. Entry fee is £20. Entries open on 27 April 2026 and close on 6 February 2027. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
