Lakeland Paws: Dogs@Dodd Double Header
The first event in the finale weekend of the fifth Lakeland Paws series takes place in Dodd Wood beside Bassenthwaite Lake. The course is fully marked and offers views across Bassenthwaite Lake to the Northern Fells. It is part of a double header weekend within the series.
Courses run on a mix of forest roads and trails. The majority of the route uses wide trails, so two dogs per runner are permitted in most places, but some sections narrow and the final descent is relatively steep. Dogs must be run on a suitable harness; harnesses are available to borrow from Non Stop Dog Wear. Runners may enter without dogs.
There are two course options:
- 8K loop with 370m of ascent
- 5K route with 210m of ascent, avoiding some of the climbing
The event is chip timed and will be marked. GPX files are available for download. The published entry fee for this event is £20.00. The race forms part of the fifth season of canicross races that include Whinlatter Forest, Dodd Wood and Grizedale Forest. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
