Labor Day Pump & Run 5K
The Northern Blair County Recreation Center presents the 18th annual Labor Day Pump & Run on Monday, September 7, 2026 in Tipton, Pennsylvania. The event offers a 5K Pump & Run and a standard 5K run option; the Pump & Run combines a bench press element with the race so lifting performance reduces a runner's recorded time.
Bench press scoring is based on a percentage of each runner's body weight by age and sex. The published percentages are: age 16 and under men 70% women 50%; ages 17 to 29 men 90% women 70%; ages 30 to 39 men 85% women 65%; ages 40 to 49 men 80% women 60%; ages 50 to 59 men 75% women 55%; ages 60 to 70 men 70% women 50%. Runners may perform up to 30 reps, with each rep reducing the recorded 5K time by 30 seconds according to the event rules.
Entry fees are $25 for registrations received by August 24, 2026 and $30 thereafter. Shirts are guaranteed only for participants registered by August 24, 2026. Medals will be awarded to the top overall male and female in the Pump & Run 5K, the top overall male and female in the 5K run, and first through third place in each age category; medals will not be doubled.
