Krampuslauf
Krampuslauf adapts a central European Krampus tradition into a running event in New England. The Krampus figure is described as a half goat, half demon creature that punishes misbehaving children at Christmas and traditionally appears in Krampuslauf processions.
The event takes place at Dartmouth Skiway in Lyme, New Hampshire. It offers multiple race formats and awards for finishers and lap participants. The course uses two distinct sides of the mountain named Holt's and Winslow; the first 5K is held on the Holt's side and the second 5K is on the Winslow side. Runners who complete laps use a drop area at the start and finish.
Distances and formats:
- 5K loop on the Holt's side of the mountain.
- 10K loop that runs both Holt's and Winslow sides.
- 9-hour 10K lap challenge to complete as many 10K laps as possible.
Finishers of the 5K and 10K receive finisher medals. Lap participants receive a specialty pin for each completed lap and a 50K medal if they reach that distance.
