Kevin Hutt 10k
The Kevin Hutt 10k takes place in Penwood State Park, located in Bloomfield, Connecticut. Organized by the CT Trailmixers, this event honors one of the founders of the Traprock Trail Race and supports the National Association of Mental Illness (NAMI). The race is held on a rolling loop course that primarily utilizes technical single track sections.
Participants navigate through different segments of the park, including the Metacomet Trail along with the Orange and Yellow trails. While the terrain is described as rocky, the course remains runnable throughout the 10 km distance. There is a three-hour cutoff time in place for all participants to complete the loop.
This is a self-sufficient event regarding hydration, as there are no aid stations located along the course. All participants are required to carry enough water or hydration supplies to last the full 10 km distance. The organizers provide snacks for runners at the finish line.
The event is managed by a non-profit, volunteer-based trail running club. Registration typically closes one week before the event date, and a waitlist is established once the race reaches its maximum capacity. The starting area is located at 560 Simsbury Road.
